Hyères, the Giens peninsula and the three Hyères islands (Porquerolles, Port-Cros, Île du Levant) form one of the most preserved coastlines in Var. Family-friendly, with stunning beaches and turquoise waters, a more accessible price level than Saint-Tropez.
Request a quoteHyères enjoys a unique position in Var: a 1900s historical town with palms and Belle Époque villas, kilometres of preserved beaches (La Capte, L'Almanarre, Hyères-Plage), and the three Hyères islands a short boat ride away. The Giens peninsula, joined to the mainland by two narrow strips of land, is one of Europe's top kitesurfing spots and offers some of the wildest landscapes on the Côte d'Azur.
Porquerolles, our partner island, is accessible in 20 minutes by shuttle from La Tour Fondue or by private boat from Hyères or Le Lavandou. The island offers crystal-clear beaches (Notre-Dame, La Courtade, Plage d'Argent), a charming village with terraces, cycling trails through pine forests and vineyards, and the Sainte-Agathe fort. Day trip or 2-3 day stay in our partner hotels (Mas du Langoustier, Auberge des Glycines).
Port-Cros, the strictest national park in metropolitan France, is heaven for hikers and snorkelers. The underwater discovery trail at La Palud beach is unique in France. Île du Levant, the most discreet of the three, is partly naturist and offers wild walking paths.
We organize boat days to the islands, kitesurfing lessons at Almanarre, mountain-bike rides on the salt flats, restaurants in Hyères old town, and vineyard tastings in the Pierrefeu hills. Our network is built around the same logic as in Saint-Tropez: vetted providers, fair prices, no markup.
Public shuttle from La Tour Fondue (15 minutes' drive from Hyères): around €25 round trip per adult, frequent departures. Private boat: more flexibility (departure time, several swim stops, lunch at anchor), around €1,200-1,800 per day for 8 people.
Yes for a windsurf, kite or paddle-focused stay. The Almanarre beach is one of the best European spots. For a family stay, prefer Hyères-Plage or the historical town centre.
May, June and September are ideal: pleasant weather, no crowds, hotels open. July-August: warmer water but more visitors, especially on Porquerolles where the village can be crowded between 11am-4pm.
L'Arômes (sea view), La Colombe (Provençal cuisine in the village), L'Atelier de la Salamandre (creative cuisine). We book at the right time.
