We work with a network of qualified professional skippers (Captain 200, Captain 500 UMS) who know the Var coast inside out, from Saint-Tropez Bay to the Hyères islands via the Bandol calanques. Boats range from comfortable 8-metre day-cruisers to spacious 14-metre motoryachts, plus monohull sailing boats or catamarans for a calmer experience.
Whether for a half-day family outing, a full day with friends, or a sunset cruise with champagne, we select the boat and departure port best suited to your plan. All boats are insured, technically inspected, and equipped with regulatory safety gear.
Indicative rates and formulas
Boat rental prices with skipper in Var vary by boat size, duration, season and departure port. Here are the ranges from our partner network:
- Half-day (4 hours) on a day-cruiser 8-10m for 4-8 people: €650-1,100, skipper included, fuel extra.
- Full day (8 hours) on a motoryacht 12-14m for 8-12 people: €1,800-3,500, skipper included, fuel extra.
- Sunset cruise (3 hours) on a sailing boat or day-cruiser for 6-10 people: €550-950, aperitif and champagne optional.
Fuel is almost always billed extra based on actual consumption. Skipper tip (10-15% of the rate) is customary at the end of the day. July-August rates are increased by 15-25%. Book from April for high season.
Departure ports and navigation zones
The choice of departure port directly conditions the day's programme:
- Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime to explore the bay, Pampelonne, Cap Camarat and the wild creeks of the peninsula.
- Cogolin and Port Grimaud for a quieter departure, avoiding the Saint-Tropez crowds in high season.
- Hyères and La Londe-les-Maures to quickly reach Porquerolles, Port-Cros or Île du Levant.
- Toulon and Saint-Mandrier for the calanques of the bay and the Giens peninsula.
- Bandol and Sanary-sur-Mer for the Bandol calanques, La Ciotat bay and Bendor island.
- Le Lavandou for the Maures coast and the Cap Nègre underwater trail.
- Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël for the red Estérel coast and Anthéor calanques.

What's included in the rental
A rental with skipper systematically includes:
- The boat at the departure port, prepared and cleaned.
- The professional skipper for the full reserved duration.
- Regulatory safety equipment (life jackets, VHF, flares, raft).
- Full insurance for the boat and mandatory third-party cover.
- Port departure taxes.
Not included: fuel (billed by actual consumption), onboard catering (option), any port taxes at another port during a stopover, the skipper's tip. For groups of 8+ people, we can include catering or an onboard chef on request.
Booking process and lead time
Booking is a simple 3-step process:
- You send us your request via the form (date, desired port, number of guests, planned programme).
- Within 24 business hours, we come back with 2 or 3 available boat options, an all-in rate, and the assigned skipper.
- After validation, a 30% deposit secures the booking. The balance is paid onboard on the day.
In high season (July, August, public holidays), book at least 4-6 weeks ahead. In May-June and September, 1-2 weeks is sufficient. Free cancellation up to 14 days before - full terms detailed in the quote.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a licence to rent a boat with skipper?
No. The skipper is at the helm; you're a passenger. No licence is required on your side.
Can we bring food and alcohol on board?
Yes, within reasonable safety limits. Glass is forbidden on some boats (use plastic or stainless steel). We also offer optional onboard catering.
Maximum number of guests on board?
Depending on the boat, 6 to 14 people. The legal capacity is on each boat's certificate. Beyond that, you need a patented commander and category B (event groups).
What happens in bad weather?
The skipper is the sole judge of safety. In case of weather alert (strong mistral, storm), the trip is rescheduled or cancelled with full refund.
Can the boat stop at Saint-Tropez or the Hyères islands for lunch?
Yes. The programme is defined at quote stage. Port taxes for any stopover lasting more than one hour at a paid port are billed extra.
