Sailing the Var coast is the most authentic way to discover its bays: silently approaching Port-Cros, anchoring in a Lavandou cove, lunching at sea off Pampelonne. Our partner boats range from 10m monohulls to 18m catamarans, with experienced skippers who know the coast and its winds.
Sailing combines slow rhythm, fresh sea breeze, and natural beauty. Unlike motor boats, there's no engine noise — just the wind in the sails. Best mood for groups wanting a contemplative experience or for couples seeking a romantic outing.
Three formats: day sailing (4-8h), sporty catamaran (16-18m for groups 8-10), and sunset cruise (3h evening). Each adapted to a different mood and budget.

Itineraries by departure port
The classic Var sailing routes:
- Saint-Tropez → Pampelonne → Cap Camarat → return: classic day, lunch at anchor in a cove.
- Hyères → Porquerolles → Port-Cros → return: island day, swim breaks.
- Bandol → Bendor → Cassis calanques → return: half-day or full-day.
- Toulon → Saint-Mandrier → Embiez → return: protected waters, family-friendly.
- Le Lavandou → Cap Nègre → Levant island → return: wild coast.
The wind directs the itinerary — the skipper adapts based on the day's forecast.
Monohull vs catamaran
Each has its character:
- Monohull: classic sailing feel, heeling (tilting), one large central area. Best for the 'real sailing' experience.
- Catamaran: no heeling (more stable), more space (2 hulls + a deck between), often a netting at the front to lie on, faster in light wind. Best for families and seasickness-prone guests.
- Sporty catamaran (Lagoon 50, Catana 47): premium experience, large cabin, often a chef. €1,800-3,500 per day.
Best season and conditions
When to sail:
- May, June, September, October: best winds (mistral or thermal breeze), pleasant temperature, fewer crowds.
- July-August: lighter thermal breeze in the morning, sea more crowded. Best to depart early.
- November-April: possible but cooler. Best for experienced sailors who want the offshore feel.
Wind: 10-18 knots for pleasant sailing. Above 20 knots, the skipper may reduce sail or change plans. Below 5 knots, the boat will use the engine.
